What is included in the school fee?

Your course fee covers your daily one-on-one and group classes, your room on campus and buffet meals at the dining hall. You can also use the study areas, the fitness gym and the rest of the campus facilities.

What Your Stay Includes
How much does a course cost?

We quote per student rather than printing a figure, because the total depends on your course, how long you stay, and your nationality, since entry and permit requirements are not the same for everyone. Tell the admissions team the course you want and the dates you have in mind and they will send you a quote that actually applies to you.

Get your quote
What do I pay for separately?

Government fees for the SSP and any visa extension, which go to the Bureau of Immigration rather than to the school. There is also a small textbook fee that depends on your course and level, a refundable deposit, and your own spending on trips, snacks and anything you buy off campus.

What Your Stay Includes
Can I study for less than four weeks?

Yes. A stay shorter than a full four-week term is charged as a portion of the four-week tuition, based on the number of weeks you enroll. The portions for one, two and three weeks are listed on the additional information page.

Additional Information
Can I add extra classes to my schedule?

Yes. You can add one-on-one ESL classes, one-on-one test preparation classes or group classes, each billed per four-week term. The current rates are listed on the additional information page.

Additional Information
Is there a security deposit?

Yes. A refundable deposit is collected at the start of your stay. It is returned after the room inspection before check-out, as long as there is no damage, together with your certificate of completion.

Additional Information
What happens if I need to cancel?

It depends on timing. Canceling before you arrive is refunded minus a penalty, and the refund gets smaller the closer to your arrival date you cancel. If you leave after arriving, the four-week block you are in is forfeited and half of the remaining term is refunded, and stays of four weeks or less are not refundable. Remaining terms can be frozen instead, as long as you return within one year.

Provisions of Refunds
Can I change my arrival date?

Yes. Moving your arrival date with four weeks or more of notice carries no penalty. A change made later than that carries a fee, and the fee is higher inside the final two weeks before arrival.

Visa, SSP and arrival

11
Do I need a visa to study in the Philippines?

Most students on a language course do not arrive on a student visa. They enter on the standard tourist visa their passport allows and study legally under a Special Study Permit, which is arranged after arrival. A formal student visa is normally for university degree programs.

Visa & SSP Guide
What is an SSP?

An SSP is a Special Study Permit issued by the Philippine Bureau of Immigration, the document that makes it legal for a foreign visitor to take a course at an accredited school. A&J e-Edu Academy is accredited by the Bureau of Immigration to enroll international students, so the school processes your SSP for you.

Visa & SSP Guide
Do I need to arrange the SSP before I fly?

No. The admin team arranges it after you arrive, and your first day includes time set aside for the photos and paperwork it needs. Bring your passport and a few passport-sized photos and the team handles the rest.

Visa & SSP Guide
How much do the visa and SSP cost?

These are government fees paid to the Bureau of Immigration rather than tuition paid to the school, so they sit outside your course price. The amounts are set by immigration circular and can change, so the admin team confirms the current figures with you at enrollment.

Visa & SSP Guide
How long does the SSP last, and what if I stay longer?

The permit covers a set study period, and a longer stay also means extending your tourist visa at the Bureau of Immigration while you are here. The admin team tracks both dates for every student and tells you when something needs renewing.

Visa & SSP Guide
Should I fly into Manila or Clark?

Both work, and the school meets students at either one. Manila has far more international flights, so it is usually easier and often cheaper to book. Clark is smaller, calmer and closer to Baguio, so if the fares are similar it is the gentler arrival after a long flight.

Arrival Guide
Can you pick me up from the airport?

Yes. Choose airport pick-up on the application form and the team meets you and brings you straight to campus. You can pick a shared group pick-up arranged through the Baguio English Schools Association or a private vehicle, and the arrival guide lists the fees for both.

Arrival Guide
What happens if my flight is delayed?

Tell the office as early as you can, even while you are still on the way. Delays are normal and the team would much rather rearrange a pick-up than have you land with no plan. Send your new arrival time as soon as you know it and keep your booking confirmation at hand.

Arrival Guide
Can I travel up to Baguio on my own?

You can, and some students do, because frequent long distance buses run from Manila. Arriving in an unfamiliar country after a long flight and then finding the right terminal and bus with your luggage is a lot to take on, though. If it is your first time in the Philippines, the pick-up is worth it.

Arrival Guide
When do I check in, and what happens on my first day?

Dormitory check-in is on Sunday from 5:00 AM, and check-out is on Saturday by 12:00 PM. Your academic schedule starts on Monday at 1:30 PM, and the time before it is set aside for SSP photos, exchanging currency and buying anything you need.

Your First Week, Day by Day
How do I get back to the airport at the end of my course?

The academy runs a scheduled sending service to Clark on Friday at 7:00 PM and on Saturday at 5:00 AM and 7:00 PM. For Manila, the school recommends JoyBus. Book your seat with the office in good time, because these are scheduled runs rather than private transfers.

Rooms and staying on campus

10
What are the rooms like?

All accommodation is on campus: Deluxe Rooms in single, twin, and triple layouts, quieter Premium Units including the Premium Studio, and Eco Villa units for couples or small families. Every room includes a bed, study desk, storage with a safety deposit box, and a private bathroom.

Dormitory Room
Can I choose my room or roommate?

No. Rooms and roommates are assigned by the academy management. Managers and authorized staff may also enter rooms for inspections without prior notice.

School Regulation
How often are rooms cleaned?

Every room is cleaned twice a week by a room attendant, and bedding is changed once a month. Replacing bedding that is damaged or stained outside that schedule is charged to the student.

School Regulation
Are toilet paper and toiletries provided?

No. The academy does not provide toilet paper or other personal hygiene items, and the Eco Mart on campus sells daily essentials. Please do not flush tissue or napkins, because the sewer system in the Philippines clogs easily.

School Regulation
How does laundry work?

Washing clothes inside the dormitory is not allowed, to protect the furniture and fixtures. An external laundry company collects and delivers every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and what you hand in comes back on the next laundry day. Pick up a form at the Academic Office desk or the Admin Desk, fill it in, attach it to your bag and bring it to the lobby by 2:00 PM. Laundry is charged by weight, with a minimum charge covering the first three kilos.

School Regulation
Is there wifi on campus?

Yes. Campus internet runs on PLDT as the main line, with Starlink satellite internet as a backup if the main line goes down. An IT staff member is on hand Monday to Friday for any internet problems, and the office gives you the network details when you arrive.

What Your Stay Includes
What happens if the power goes out?

Power interruptions happen from time to time in the Philippines, so the campus keeps a backup generator on standby, ready to start if the power goes out.

What Your Stay Includes
Can I cook in my room?

Cooking is not permitted in the academy, and gas stoves and electric cooking appliances cannot be used in the rooms, as a fire safety measure. Simple cooking is possible in the Premium Units and Eco Villas.

School Regulation
Can I upgrade my room or my course?

Yes. Upgrading your course or your room means paying the difference, and downgrading is allowed but the difference is not refunded. Eco Relax Lite and Eco Relax Plus cannot be upgraded.

Class Regulation
Can I check in early or check out late?

Yes, for an extra charge that depends on whether you stay in a Deluxe room or a Premium or Eco Villa unit. Late check-out is charged per day, with a lower rate within 12 hours of the standard time.

Additional Information

Meals

5
Are meals included in the course fee?

Yes. Your course fee covers your classes, your room and your meals, so day to day eating is not a separate budget. Meals are served buffet style in the dining hall.

Food and Meals
What time are meals served?

On weekdays breakfast is 7:10 AM to 8:20 AM, lunch is 12:30 PM to 1:20 PM and dinner is 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. On weekends and holidays there is brunch from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM and dinner from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The dining hall itself is open from 6:00 AM to midnight.

Food and Meals
Is halal food available?

Yes. The dining hall has a dedicated halal station, so Muslim students eat on campus with everyone else instead of arranging meals separately.

Food and Meals
I have a dietary requirement. What should I do?

Tell the admissions team when you apply, so the kitchen knows before you arrive rather than on your first morning.

Contact us
Can I get food outside meal times?

Yes. The cafe and the Eco Mart on campus cover coffee, snacks and daily essentials between meals, and both are open from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM every day except Sunday.

Facilities

Classes and teaching

13
I am a complete beginner. Can I still join?

Absolutely. On your first day you take a level test covering speaking, listening, reading, and writing, and your classes are matched to your exact level. Daily one-on-one lessons mean the pace is always yours, so nervous beginners settle in quickly.

English Level Test
What is the difference between the ESL courses?

Eco Relax Lite is three one-on-one classes a day with no group class, and Eco Relax Plus adds two group classes. Eco Hub runs four one-on-one plus two group classes in three tracks: Speaking Accelerator, Business Booster and Navigator. Eco Sparta is the most intensive, with six one-on-one classes a day and the night class and vocabulary test mandatory for the whole course.

Compare Courses
How many classes will I have each day?

It depends on your course rather than the day of the week. ESL courses range from three one-on-one classes a day on Eco Relax Lite to six on Eco Sparta, and the Test Course runs four one-on-one plus two group classes. Each course page lists its daily class structure.

ESL Course
What actually happens in a one-on-one class?

One teacher, one student, one hour, working from a textbook matched to your level. Because there is no group to hide behind, you speak for most of the hour and every mistake gets corrected as it happens. That correction rate is the real difference between a private hour and a classroom one.

How We Teach
How is my level decided, and how often are tests?

A level test in your first days places you. Bi-monthly tests run twice a month, and a post-test at the end of each month sets your level for the month ahead. None of them are optional: missing one carries a penalty and blocks a teacher extension.

How We Teach
What if I am the only student at my level in a group class?

It converts to an hour of one-on-one class until other students at that level arrive. You are never left in an empty group class, and the conversion happens on its own when the numbers require it rather than on request.

How We Teach
Can I change my textbook?

New students can request a textbook change during their first week if there is a valid reason. The change is free as long as the book is still in good condition, with no writing or tears.

Class Regulation
Do I keep the same teacher?

Teachers are assigned for four weeks. To keep yours, submit an extension form by 5:30 PM on the Wednesday of your fourth week, up to a maximum of eight weeks with one teacher. Miss the deadline and you are assigned a new teacher automatically.

Class Regulation
How many days of class do I get?

Students receive 20 days of classes in a four-week term. Public holidays are sometimes announced at short notice, so if three or more fall in your term the academy schedules a day of make-up classes, which is why every student is guaranteed at least 18 days in four weeks.

Class Regulation
What if I miss a class or arrive late?

You are marked absent after a 15-minute allowance, and an absence without a valid reason carries a penalty. Classes that need making up are covered by a substitute teacher when one is available or held as a make-up class, usually on a Saturday. Classes canceled because of natural disasters such as strong typhoons are not made up.

Class Regulation
Do I get homework?

Daily writing homework is one of the optional programs, and once you join it you commit to at least four weeks. There is also the vocabulary booklet matched to your level, which the evening vocabulary class works through.

How We Teach
What is the night class?

Optional group classes held Monday to Thursday evenings. ECA, the Eco Club Activity, is active, with things like dance, pop songs and badminton, and EAA, the Eco Academic Activity, is discussion based. Sign up on the student bulletin board by 2:30 PM on the day, and note that the night class is mandatory on Eco Sparta and Junior Camp.

Class Regulation
Which tests can I prepare for, and what is the Guarantee Course?

The Test Course prepares you for IELTS, TOEIC, TOEFL or PTE with four one-on-one and two group classes a day and a monthly mock test. The Guarantee Course writes a target score and a study period into the course itself for IELTS and TOEIC, with more class time and more frequent mock tests.

Campus rules and daily life

9
Is there a curfew?

Yes, from Sunday to Thursday at 9:30 PM, when managers check rooms and every student must be in their own room. Going out between 9:30 PM and 6:00 AM is not allowed, and in an emergency you contact your manager. There is no curfew on Friday and Saturday nights.

School Regulation
Is there an English-only rule?

The English Only Policy is an optional program you can join for at least four weeks, and it is mandatory for Eco Sparta students throughout their training period. Once you are on it, speaking another language carries a penalty and a small fine.

Class Regulation
Can I drink alcohol or smoke on campus?

No. Drinking is not allowed anywhere on school premises or in the dormitory, and even empty bottles or cans count: a first offense forfeits your deposit and a second means expulsion. Smoking is prohibited inside the academy and under Baguio City ordinance, so smokers go outside the academy gate.

School Regulation
Can I travel outside Baguio on weekends?

Yes. Fill out the travel waiver and hand it to your manager by 1:30 PM on Thursday, and keep your manager updated on where you are while you are away.

School Regulation
How late can I study?

The lecture building is open for self-study from 5:30 PM to 2:00 AM. Simple snacks and drinks are fine but meals are not, and the rooms must stay quiet. On curfew nights, Sunday to Thursday, every student must be in their own room from 9:30 PM.

Class Regulation
When can I use the gym, golf range, gymnasium and campsite?

The fitness center is open Monday to Saturday from 5:00 AM to 9:00 PM and on Sunday from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, for ages 14 and up. The golf driving range is open from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM for students 14 and up. The indoor gymnasium and the campsite are rented by reservation, the gymnasium at least a day ahead, and sports equipment can be borrowed from the office on weekdays.

School Regulation
What activities are there?

Holiday celebrations, cultural exchange events, talent shows, sports festivals, speech contests and quizzes, movie nights, live band nights, BBQ parties and pizza days. Upcoming events are posted on the student bulletin board.

Activity
What happens at the end of my course?

Friday is completion day. Tell your manager your exact check-out date and time a week ahead, and your room is inspected an hour before you leave; if it is in good condition, your deposit is returned with your certificate. Check out of the dormitory by 12:00 PM on Saturday and return your keycard to the manager in charge.

School Regulation
Can I visit other rooms in the dormitory?

Entering the room of a student of the opposite sex is strictly prohibited and leads to expulsion without a refund. Visiting another room after curfew is also not allowed, even between students of the same gender.

School Regulation

Junior students

3
Do you have programs for children and teens?

Yes. The Junior Course covers young learners with age-appropriate classes, caring supervision, and seasonal Junior Camps that mix English lessons with fun activities. Parents receive clear guidance on schedules, safety, and accommodation.

Junior Course
What junior options are there?

Four. Junior Lite is three one-on-one classes a day. Junior ESL is four one-on-one plus two group classes with a mandatory vocabulary test, and the Junior Test Course follows the same shape for IELTS, TOEIC, TOEFL or PTE. Junior Camp matches Junior ESL and makes the evening session mandatory.

Junior Course
Is the evening session required for juniors?

It is optional on Junior Lite, Junior ESL and the Junior Test Course, and mandatory on Junior Camp. All four junior options include a monthly mock test.

Junior Course

Baguio and after your course

8
What is the weather like in Baguio?

Cool, and by Philippine standards remarkably so. The city sits roughly 1,500 meters up in the Cordillera mountains, which keeps it far milder than the lowlands all year round. Expect to want a jacket in the evenings whatever month you arrive.

Studying in Baguio
When is the rainy season?

Broadly June to October, and Baguio gets a lot of rain in those months because the mountains catch it. It does not usually rain all day and rarely stops anyone studying, but it does shape weekend plans. The driest and brightest stretch is roughly February to May.

Studying in Baguio
What should I pack for Baguio?

Warm layers, which is the thing almost everyone gets wrong, plus something waterproof if you come between June and October. Bring your passport, your return or onward ticket, a few passport-sized photos for the permit paperwork, some cash for small purchases and any medication you take regularly.

What to Pack for Baguio
Is Baguio safe for international students?

It has a reputation as one of the calmer Philippine cities, and the usual advice for anywhere applies: keep valuables out of sight, use registered transport at night, and tell someone where you are going on a longer trip. Campus staff know the city and are the right people to ask before a first solo outing.

Is Baguio Safe for Foreigners?
Do people speak English in Baguio?

Widely, yes. English is one of the official languages of the Philippines and is used in education, business and signage throughout the country. Baguio is also a university city with a large student population, so using English outside class is easy.

Studying in Baguio
What is there to do at the weekend?

In the city: Burnham Park, Session Road, the public market, Camp John Hay, and more cafes than a student can work through in a term. Further out: the strawberry farms in nearby La Trinidad, surfing at San Juan in La Union, and the mountain villages north of the city.

Studying in Baguio
Which English test should I take?

It depends on what you want the score for. IELTS is the broadest, accepted by universities and immigration authorities in several countries; TOEFL is most associated with universities in the United States; PTE is computer-based and widely accepted in Australia and New Zealand; TOEIC measures workplace English. Decide the destination first, then the test.

Which English Test?
Can I extend or change my course while I am here?

Yes, and plenty of students do once they know their real goal. Tell the office as early as you can, because a longer stay usually means extending your permit and your visa too.
